Course Syllabus

Introduction

This course is your launchpad into a career in computer networking. You'll get hands-on experience with the latest tech, building your own personal websites from scratch. From understanding the nuts and bolts of network infrastructure to crafting stunning web pages, you'll be equipped to land your dream job or pursue advanced studies.

Course Goals

Students will be able to:

  • Design and build functional and visually appealing websites.
  • Understand the principles of network infrastructure and protocols.
  • Troubleshoot common network issues.
  • Utilize web development tools and programming languages effectively.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop and maintain complex web applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in networking and web design.

Prerequisites

Students should have completed Exploring Computer Science or be taking it concurrently with teacher permission.

Students who do not complete both Exploring Computer Science and Web Design will not recieve a certficate of completion or the graduation regalia for being a "CTE Pathway Completer".

Standards

The Web Design curriculum is aligned to the CA CTE Model Curriculum Standards and Career Ready Standards for the Sector Information and Communication Technologies and Software & Systems career pathway. This course will explore the use of web site development techniques in a practical application. HTML and other web site concepts will be developed, utilized, and implemented.

All students taking this course should strive to do every assignment to the best of their ability while following the classroom rules and procedures. This includes collaborative; labs, presentations, computer-based learning objectives and others.

Grading Scale & Breakdown

A = 90% - 100%

B = 80% - 89%

C = 70% - 79%

D = 60% - 69%

F = 50% - 59%

Note: Teacher reserves the right to put +/- on grades that are on the upper or lower bounds of the grading scale.

Missing Assignments & Assessments


Late work can be done for 75% credit up to 2 weeks prior to the end of the grading period; current assignments can always be redone for full credit.


Make-Up work/tests can be done for full credit if completed during the grace period. The grace period is 1 day for every day absent.
